Multi-scale Modeling Environment for Subcellular-to-organ-system Biophysics
Core 3 is developing a multi-scale modeling environment for biomechanics, transport, and electrophysiology, designed to allow users to author models that integrate from molecular to organ-system scales. New techniques are extending the range of spatial and temporal scales that these models can span linking with the work of cores 1 and 2. Novel workflows will facilitate and automate the consistent reproduction of complex model-building and simulation projects such as patient-specific modeling. Driven by Driving Biomedical Projects that extend from the molecular level to clinical subjects, we are expanding an interactive and extensible modeling environment, connected with a publicly available database containing experimental data, models, and model components with improved methods, to more tightly integrate coupling between physiological scales that range from molecular dynamics to the whole body.
